How do we repair a door ding?
Door dings happen in Manchester, and it’s an unfortunate event. It could be a pram at the store or another door in a car park. Sometimes we know we have a ding, and sometimes they show up. The good news is that they are repairable and that we would love to help you fix your problem.
Paintless Dent Removal is all done with fine metalwork. We massage the dent from the inside out to return the metal back to the original factory shape. Most of the time on the car, we can access the dent from behind; we go through windows, take off door jambs, take out lights, or pull a headliner. This is the easiest way to repair the damage to your doors, wing, bonnet, roof, and boot.
Metal has a memory and will go back to its original shape if you slowly move it with specialized metal tools. Sometimes we can not gain access to the dent behind the metal. In these circumstances, we use specialized glue. This is a gradual raising of the metal then flattening down. This is something that we often do, called glue pulling. We use a tool called a knockdown to flatten out the metal.
Door dings vary in length, depth, and size. These factors all go into pricing. We are used to fixing door dings in all shapes and sizes. Some of these dents are actually creases, especially when another door opens into yours. Vertical and horizontal creases are absolutely repairable but take more time to repair that a ding.
We don’t use paint or filler. It is simply us reshaping the metal back to its original shape. If you are ever in a car park and someone offers to fix your ding with any filler, paint, or wax, run. This work is for a skilled technician at a train shop.
A paintless dent removal tech trains for years to learn this trade. Imagine crunching a Coke can and being able to restore it so that you don’t see any lines or dents, and it looks like it just came off the factory floor. It is tedious and intense work. Many people show you how to do this yourself, but this is a farce. Unless you are trained on fixing door dings, dents, creases, and restore metal, you will do more damage trying to repair something yourself than just coming straight to us to fix it.
We don’t report your dent to your insurance company, and it protects the original paint, which in turn doesn’t devalue your vehicle. It’s one of the best benefits of paintless dent removal.
Our goal at Dent Detail Paintless Dent Removal is to fix your car smoothly, efficiently, and with grace for you. We want to answer any questions, and if this did not, please give us a ring. We want you to understand the process, our pricing, and the value that we are bringing to your repair.
